Vision, Mission, Actions and Outcomes

Our vision is that by 2010 we are taking full advantage of the opportunities offered by ICT to foster a strong, diverse and sustainable knowledge economy in Leicestershire.

Our mission is to exploit ICT to help make Leicestershire a successful and attractive place to do business, and to improve the quality of life of all who live within the city and county. The knowledge economy is built upon high-speed digital communications. These communications can be exploited for economic advantage if people have the necessary ICT skills and sector knowledge to create an eBusiness environment, supported by the efficient electronic delivery of public services.

The strategy has, therefore, been developed around four action themes: Digital Communications, eBusiness, eLearning and ICT skills, and eServices.

By 2010, we will have created a competitive knowledge economy supported by a world-class ICT services cluster of small and large businesses and sustained by the inward investment of businesses that grow the knowledge economy.

The projects set out in the strategy are illustrative actions to be undertaken within each action theme and also for flagship projects that require collaboration across all the themes to help achieve the Intelligent Landscape vision.
