Specific Funding Criteria for Enterprise and Innovation
Our focus has been on new or expanded project ideas which:
- Provide co-ordinated business support services including 'brokerage' schemes for new businesses and people thinking of setting up in business; which may link with the provision of incubator and other managed workspace.
- Promote an enterprise culture and stimulate amongst all groups within the working population a desire to set up in business.
- Stimulate the formation of clusters in key sectors. Indicative actions have included:
- Providing infrastructure support aimed at raising productivity, standards and profile of key clusters such as creative industries, space industries, food and drink, sports development, construction and tourism;
- Developing supply chains.
- Develop stronger links between the universities and business. Ideas have included:
- Facilitating knowledge transfer and fostering innovative ideas;
- Supporting 'spin-offs' from universities and large companies;
- Reducing barriers to access universities' knowledge base;
- Developing one point of contact for companies.
