Research

Wed, 09 Jun 2004

The launch of the Intelligent Landscape is an important milestone in driving forward the economy of Leicester Shire, through the widespread adoption and use of high-speed digital networks at home and at work.

The LSEP's six theme areas support businesses and organisations to achieve economic growth that will help to reduce inequalities in the region, improve the quality of built and rural environments and create economic advantage using Leicester Shire's great diversity.

The Leicester Shire Intelligence project manages and delivers the Research programme for the LSEP.

Leicester Shire Intelligence
Leicester Shire Intelligence provides high-quality research and intelligence about the sub-region's economy. It acts as a central information point for Leicester and Leicestershire, providing key statistics, analysis and access to bespoke research projects.

A key role is to encourage the commissioning of collaborative research projects with local partners, to avoid duplication and to fill gaps in our knowledge.

The importance of research
The information is used to inform strategic planning, business planning, funding applications and decision-making within the LSEP and key partner organisations. In 2003/04 there was a particular focus on the provision of economic and labour market intelligence, along with support to the LSEP themes.

There is an ongoing need for this intelligence, both in terms of forecasting future change and measuring the impact of recent developments.

The LSEP wishes to focus its activity on evidence-based research. Leicester Shire Intelligence aims to provide this clear and unbiased information on the local economy, labour market and themes within the LSEP strategy.
