Project Description

As a LATI Member I have benefited greatly, gaining new business and many useful contacts. As LATI Chairman I am keen to see more companies gain the same benefits I have and for LATI to play a significant role in supporting and encouraging high-technology and knowledge-based businesses throughout the county.
Mike Petty - LATI Chairman

Background

LATI was founded in 1996. Its primary aim was to promote growth and innovation within the Loughborough high technology industry sector and to attract investment to the area to support this. Over the years these aims and objectives have been expanded and LATI has evolved into a sustainable and influential networking organisation and pressure group.

LATI has enjoyed many significant achievements including being a key driver in the opening of the Loughborough Innovation Centre.

Expanding the network

LATI now aims to expand its network into other areas of the county, building relationships with the Leicester based universities and other support organisations interested in improving Leicestershire’s prospects as a base for high-tech and knowledge-based businesses.

The network will help to stimulate connections between its members and to provide its members with useful support and information. LATI runs regular networking events, often involving visits to member company sites. Active membership keeps people in touch with the scientific, research and technology activities in the local business community and Loughborough, Leicester and De Montfort Universities.

Outcomes

• Increase the number of member companies by 150 over the life of the project

• LATI will run 6-10 networking events per year at locations throughout the county.
