Information Communication Technology (ICT) has a pivotal role to play in helping Leicester and Leicestershire to achieve economic growth and to counter social division.
ICT underpins much of the work being undertaken by projects in the LSEP's four theme areas. However, we have with partners articulated a wider agenda for ICT to help bring about the evolution of a local knowldege economy.
We envisage a high-speed, digital communications infrastructure for Leicester Shire, used by individuals and businesses skilled in the effective use and application of ICT, and served by efficient public services delivered electronically. This vision of a vibrant and succesful 'Knowledge Economy' for Leicester Shire is encapsulated in the Intelligent Landscape strategy published in May 2004.
