Steel fabrication structures being assembled for industrial units at Dodwells Bridge

The six new industrial units, built in Hinckley, are now fully occupied. They provide 1,500 sq m (or 16,000 sq ft) of commercial floor space.

Project Description

Six businesses are operating successfully from the Business Park and employ a growing number of full time staff. The units are double the size of traditional start up units in the Borough and in short supply. Background
LSEP helped the council to develop the former brownfield site by jointly funding the £1million scheme, which provides business accommodation between 2,000 and 3,500 sq ft.

The work was carried out by Herbert Baggaley Construction Ltd and was completed within five months.

Job creation
The Businesses will potentially create up to 40 new jobs.

Outcomes

Occupation of units

  • All of the units are now fully occupied. The tenants provide engineering, manufacturing and distribution services.

Other benefits

  • The units have a CCTV system installed to increase security on the estate and will bring the Council an income of £80,000 a year. Surrounding businesses have also welcomed the improvements in security arrangements.
  • Feedback to the council has been positive and has brought interest from companies not only based in Hinckley but in the surrounding areas.
