Cropped Ashby

Number 6 Bath Street, in Ashby-de-la-Zouch, after the renovation that has transformed the building into an attractive business site

"Grants available to improve commercial properties in historic Ashby-de-la-Zouch"

Heritage Economic Regeneration Scheme (HERS) improvement grants are available in the town centre conservation area to help fund repairs to commercial buildings and to bring underused or vacant property back into economic use.

Organisation: North West Leicestershire District Council

Completion Date: 31/03/2005

Location

Ashby-de-la-Zouch, North West Leicestershire

Project Description

"The centre has significant historic value and by facilitating the re-use of buildings, including the re-occupation of upper floors, the grants will contribute towards the sustainable social and economic impact businesses make to a town centre." Colin Chapman, Head of Planning Policy and Regeneration Section, North West Leicestershire District Council

The Georgian and Victorian commercial landscape is a key part of Ashby-de-la-Zouch's appeal. The recent completion of the Ashby Bypass improves Ashby's position both as a local shopping and commercial centre and as a regional visitor destination.

By working with the LSEP and English Heritage, both North West Leicestershire District Council and Ashby Town Council aim to encourage economic investment by the offer of grant support to commercial property owners in Ashby town centre.
