Project Description
Apex Leicester Project Ltd is a registered charity that has been established since 1982.
Apex provides education, training, employment preparation, advice and support to those excluded from or otherwise disadvantaged in the labour market due to long term unemployment, basic employability needs, being at risk of offending, or suffering a range of barriers to employment such as ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages), disability, single parent status, substance misuse problems, health needs and homelessness.
The project works with employers and employer organisations to address prejudice, reduce discrimination and to promote work based experience, training and employment opportunities.
Apex's original aims were to provide rehabilitation, reintegration and the resettlement of ex-offenders in Leicestershire and its surrounding areas, thereby reducing recidivism and promoting community safety.
More recently Apex's aims have widened to address the needs of other disadvantaged unemployed individuals who may be long term unemployed, be at risk of offending, or suffering from a range of barriers to employment such as ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages), disability, single parent status, substance misuse problems and homelessness.
The project aims to encourage the promotion of community regeneration and social inclusion.
Apex Leicester Project Ltd achieves the above aims by enhancing employment opportunities for its service users through the provision of advice, support and guidance in identifying, obtaining and maintaining appropriate education, training or employment. The project works with employers and employer organisations to address prejudice, reduce discrimination and promote work based experience and training opportunities.
Apex Leicester Project Ltd offers a wide range of free training opportunities to individuals in receipt of benefits and is an approved centre for OCR, British Computer Society(BCS), City and Guilds and Pitman's Open College Network.
There is one member of staff to every five students to ensure a high quality of retention and achievement.
Vision
Apex's vision is to be able to provide an environment where staff, users, volunteers and visitors alike feel welcome, valued, respected and deserving equally of our attention, understanding, support and encouragement - particularly in respect of personal progression towards education, training and employment goals.
Our aim is to practice and to promote social inclusion and to address whatever barriers an individual or particular group may face in respect of achieving these goals.
We hope not only, therefore, to provide services primarily related to the provision and/or acquisition of education, training and employment but also to provide other secondary services necessary to motivate, engage, support and sustain our clients within the primary services.
In addition we want to be able to accommodate needs in respect of ethnicity, religion, disability, gender, health, age and childcare responsibility.
