Working with businesses, organisations and people in Leicester Shire

Our approach is to guide strategically the development of Leicester Shire's economy. By funding projects we bring together key organisations, businesses and people in the sub-region in a collective effort to develop both the economy and the lives of people living here. We aim to be open and transparent and to be an approachable organisation that is professional and focused on improving the economy.

To help guide our present and future direction we have 'Theme Groups' supporting our six areas of operation, which give valuable advice in helping us reach our objectives. Our projects have direct impact on the areas where you live and we are also interested in hearing what you think about the work we are doing. In addition, we also work closely with Local Strategic Partnerships (LSPs) in the sub-region to ensure that their economic agendas are developed within our own strategic framework. LSPs might have differing local priorities but they can all contribute to the success of Leicester Shire's economy.

Working with other counties in the region

The LSEP was established by the East Midlands Development Agency which has established similar Sub-Regional Strategic Partnerships (SSPs) across the region. We recognise that some of our economic issues will be influenced by the actions of other SSPs. Two of our districts, Melton and Harborough, are part of the Welland SSP. We are also bounded by the Northamptonshire, Greater Nottingham and Derby and Derbyshire SSPs, as well as being adjacent to parts of the West Midlands.

We will share our strategy and programmes with other SSPs and liaise over common issues and joint funding of projects where appropriate.
