Eight new directors - five from the private sector

Leicester Shire Economic Partnership (LSEP) Ltd has appointed eight new directors to its Board. The appointments were confirmed at the January Board meeting and follow a recruitment process. Five of the new directors are drawn from the private sector and represent some of the key businesses in Leicester and Leicestershire; two are from the public sector and one from the third sector.

Rick Moore, Chairman of LSEP, has been looking to refresh the Board since he was appointed and in particular strengthen the private sector representation.

He said, "We were highly delighted by the calibre of applications we received from the private sector and are pleased to announce these appointments. The new directors will bring additional strengths to our highly effective and influential board, this is an exciting time for the sub-region with significant regeneration taking place and we are using this process to create an effective 'fit for purpose' structure."

Kishor Tailor, Chief Executive of LSEP, said, "We believe the new Board will be visionary and provide a unique approach to the future economic regeneration of the sub-region. It is essential that the private sector are actively engaged in shaping the future strategy and helping to take key decisions that affect the development of the Leicester Shire economy. I am delighted that the new Board members will bring fresh ideas based on their own experiences.”

New Board Directors are:

  • Charles Smith: Charles is the Deputy Chief Executive of Shoe Zone Group Ltd, which trades as Shoe Zone and Stead & Simpson.
  • Stephen Gould: Stephen has been a Director of Everards Brewery Ltd since 2003.
  • Andrew Bacon: Andrew is responsible for BT's strategic development for UK local government.
  • Bhiku Hindocha: Bhiku was a Chartered Accountant with his own general practice from 1974 – 1998 during which time he also bought and sold commercial properties.
  • Ian Elliot: Ian is the joint Managing Director and Company Secretary for Nicholls Colton Partners Limited.
  • Cllr Patrick Kitterick: Patrick has been a Leicester City Councillor since May 2003 and currently has the portfolio for Regeneration & Transport.
  • John Sinnott: John has been the Chief Executive of Leicestershire County Council for 13 years. His local government career began in Liverpool and Merseyside.
  • Freda Hussain: Freda has taught in a range of schools, spending time in the U.S.A and in 2006 retired from her post as principal of Moat College having been at the College since 1991.
