Leicestershire Cares launches Leicestershire Corporate Responsibility Centre
The launch has taken place of the Leicestershire Corporate Responsibility Centre, which will be known as the 'Warehouse'. This is the latest development for Leicestershire Cares which is the employee volunteering charity. The organisation has redeveloped a disused warehouse on their site at Tower Street, Leicester with the financial support of LSEP, local trusts, and businesses.
The warehouse will be used for training people involved in several new initiatives:
- Number Partners(which is a numeracy equivalent of right to read). Volunteers play specially designed board games with pupils to enhance their maths skills.
- Preparing the homeless to enter or re-enter the world of work through mentored work placements at such places as Royal Mail.
- Work with volunteer mentors.
- Assisting young people leaving care and preparing for a 4 week mentored work placement.
- Traing volunteers to mentor offenders.
Leicestershire Cares hopes to build a programme that focuses on different aspects of Corporate Responsibility which would be open to all companies, not just Leicestershire Cares members.
