Bhikhu is a Chartered Accountant who was a partner in a practice in Leicester from 1974 to 1988.
He has also invested in commercial properties and operated four hotels in the region till 2006.He has previously served on the Board of Leicester Chamber of Commerce, Business Link and Leicester Promotions.He has been a Magistrate on the Leicester Bench since 1983 and serves on The Lord Chancellors' Advisory Committee.

Freda Hussain has taught in a range of schools, spending time in the U.S.A and in 2006 retired from her post as principal of Moat College having been at the College since 1991. She is a former High Sheriff of Leicestershire and has been involved with Leicester University Council, the Leicester Sound Advisory Board, the DFES Headteacher Advisory Group and the Police Advisory Group on Racial Issues.

Shirley was previously Pro-Vice-Chancellor at the University of East Anglia (UEA), responsible for the health and professional schools, where she led the successful bid for a new medical school for the East of England.
Educated at Oxford University and the Institute of Psychiatry in London, she is a clinical psychologist and her research has been in the field of health psychology concentrating on the development of psychological interventions for the management of pain.
She is also Deputy Chair of the Healthcare Commission.
