History

LSEP was conceived in Autumn 2001 to make Leicester Shire a better place for everyone to live, work and play.

A shadow Board, representing key local partners, was formed in late 2001 with responsibility for creating the new partnership. In Spring 2002 emda formally accredited Leicester Shire Economic Partnership as the Sub-regional Strategic Partnership (SSP) for Leicester and Leicestershire.

LSEP became a not-for-profit private company in September 2002. A Board was appointed at this time and still comprises of key members of the local community, representing a diversity of interests.
